The local roads are usually very quiet, but at weekends,  in summer, and on national holidays, it may get busy. You are generally advised to avoid travelling in the area on August 15th, because this is the Italian holiday of Ferragosto and by far the busiest day of the year.

You can reach most destinations by car, motorbike, campervan and bicycle; some only on foot!

By Car or Motorbike

Travelling by car or motorbike is comfortable and allows you to appreciate the beautiful landscape that the Gran Sasso d’Italia offers.

By Public Transport

Travelling by public transport is also possible, but unfortunately the timetables are somewhat limited. There are connections to mountain resorts from most major towns in Abruzzo, but make sure to check timetable information since they are often changed.
